Well I had a craving....I had a craving for Italian on Erie Street and a good chat with a couple of pretty awesome individuals that just so happen to be friends of mine and fabulous wedding photographers as well. John Lyons, Michele Bowman and I headed down to La Zingra for some homemade gnocchi, wine and Tiramisu (though they were out to my disappointment). The restaurant is located here in Windsor, and it is one of my new favorites for Italian.
I guess you can say that I'm a little bit of a 'Foodie', which is explained in the Wikipedia as "... foodies are non-professionals in the food industry, amateurs who simply love food for consumption, study and preparation". I love how food is prepared and it sometimes drives my husband nuts when I ask the server things like "Are the tomatoes room temperature?" It really is because I have a background with food and wine and love the intricacies of how it's prepared. When I lived in Niagara I worked at a four diamond winery restaurant and I guess I got a little spoiled. I was trained by a top sommelier and our chef (Jason Parsons) has regular visits on City TV. If you are ever visiting Niagara on the Lake, make it a priority to stop by Peller Estates Winery - you will love it.
It's great to take some time to just unwind with friends. I think everyone should incorporate a little downtime once a week. Life can be very demanding and most of us have little time for ourselves. I think it's important to take care of ourselves and nurture friendships...life really is about living. So with that said I leave you with a well-known saying - Eat, Drink and be Merry!
