Rose and David were married this past Saturday; two wedding ceremonies took place that morning that included a traditional tea ceremony at the bride's home. It's tradition that the groom and his family come that morning to the bride's home. They come bearing gifts in traditional gowns and are invited into the home where the groom waits to 'receive' his bride. The bride is waiting in her room as the grooms family arrives and forms a formal standing area where she is escorted down the isle to her groom.

The tea ceremony is a very intimate part of the day where the bride and groom serve tea to their parents and loved ones as they receive personal blessings and advice for marriage. I loved photographing this part of the day because of the great respect towards the tradition. I was honored to be a part of this and Rose and David's families were incredibly generous with their hospitality. Thank you again to the family :)

Below Rose is waiting for David and getting her other three dresses out for the day! Two of them are custom made Vietnamese dresses - sewn and made for Rose in Vietnam. This makes a total of FIVE dresses for her wedding day! Yes,FIVE!

After their tea ceremony Rose and David changed out of their traditional attire, had lunch with the family (amazing authentic homemade food) and then we headed to the Art Gallery of Windsor for their second ceremony. Just as beautiful as the first, there were many that were eager to start while we all waited for the officiant to arrive.

Rose and David stood together saying their vows with their entire hearts...I had choked up when I saw her sister here living the moment with them.

_DSC3929 copy.jpgThe night went on to celebrate with friends and family with a wonderful dinner. It was calling for rain that day but it turned into a hot, hot spring day allowing us to venture outdoors. They say it means good luck if it rains on your wedding day...I think they are right!
